 Introduction

The goal of this page is to create awareness that, and increase the experience of, the powerful joy that results from reflecting human dignity based on gluing imagination to fulfilling what it means to be made in the image of Hashem’s 13 attributes of mercy, detaching imagination from natural worldly elements that trap it and cause bitterness and hatred so as to burn off false components inherent in subjective natural existence in a constant offering nourishing the universe with each choice saying Hashem Echad in favor of reflecting real eternal identity based on Hashem’s 13 Attributes of Mercy into the world over those natural urges.  Jewish or non-Jewish, every person is made in the image of the Creator.  The experience joy is the byproduct of relating with the Creator in the manner that He depicts for us in Torah.  We have the real free willed choice to reflect back to Him His Attributes, which He glorifies us with by giving us a life-giving soul so that He can have a relationship with us. For more on the 13 attributes please see the Tomer Devorah pages on this blog.

Joy in life is based on living with real human dignity

Gaining the respect of people through human tactics of social interaction is not the topic of this section. The discussion on www.joyofjewishsoul.com is designed to reveal a joy that is an internal joy that comes from a deep place based on a relationship with Hashem, one where with love for Hashem and awe of how He has created us, we have expanded consciousness of our lives.

What image do we want to project?

We want to project an image that is based on Hashem’s constant love and the ability He gives us with free will and speech to lovingly and gently reflect His 13 Attributes of Mercy into the world through our speech and deeds, rectifying our hearts so that doing so becomes sincere and the new-natural.  To do so, over time we lovingly and gently direct the trapped tzelem elokim that animates our natural urges to conform to Torah and His Attributes, with growing experiential recognition that doing so is the greatest pleasure a person can experience and is consistent with the pleasure Hashem desires for us.

What image do we want to actively shrink and free the Shechina from, releasing the Shechina and trapped tzelem elokim from the galus of our subjective existence?

We want to stop projecting an image where our intellect and experience are reacting subjectively based on our natural character traits including our unrectified traits, coping mechanisms, limiting beliefs and bad programming, which are focused on the outer and exterior parts of life and are guided solely by the logic of the intellect serving the natural urges and survival mechanisms

Accepting the role of washing off natural reactions on a constant basis as part of the relationship Hashem desires to have with us – the function of our spirit, ruach

Our daily and moment by moment effort is to resolve conflicting thoughts and feelings based on knowing there is No Other Power. Specifically, we need to increase kindness and determination to show our love of Hashem and stop what we need to show our awe of Hashem and how He has created us and the world with a soul and the power of speech to create positive or negative influence. We seek to become a larger and larger compassionate entity that is able to triumph over natural urges as we conduct ourselves in accordance with His Will to do our part in using free will while in time and space to create a real eternal existence within Hashem Echad

Strengthening faith and trust in Hashem, love and awe of Hashem, that He Alone determines everything and is the Sole Source of all Good

Every day we say Shema Yisrael Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad and then Baruch Shem Kavod Malchuso Leolam Voed

Hear oh Israel the Lord our Gd the Lord is One – Blessed is the honor of His Kingdom forever and ever

In the desert, when things would go wrong, the Jewish people would complain to Moshe, and Moshe would daven to Hashem for help.  We can run to Hashem with our troubles every moment and know that doing so is the first step in effort before any other step and that He will help.  Hashem is the only Source of all Good.  It makes sense to build into our thinking to speak out loud in personal prayer to Him and make our requests, especially if we have conflicting desires and competing passions, so that He sees our faith and trust in Him.  We can have spiritual object constancy even though His Hand is totally concealed and doing so brings us a warm and close relationship where we begin to experience clarity and joy that is only understandable once it is experienced.  After that, the yearning is to never lose that relationship, nothing is better!

Separating Imagination from clinging to anything except absolute truth – Real Free Will

Excavating our coping mechanisms, old patterns, limiting beliefs, traumas, poor skills and more can free precious tzelem elokim trapped in them and make room for reflecting Hashem’s mercy into the world. Key is to be able to change the way we identify our esteem to our effort to reflect Hashem into the world. We are created to conquer our subjective inner space, our hearts, in order to become a vessel that naturally reflects His Light into the world, as the moon reflects the sun.

Rabbi Moshe Weinberger series:  Constructing the Soul reposted from www.yutorah.org  These shiurim are being posted because without a solid Torah foundation, gluing imagination to emulating Hashem’s 13 Attributes of Mercy has absolute truthful wisdom to guide us through when navigating the competing forces within us.  Hear Rabbi Moshe Weinberger discuss and clarify who we really are!!

Constructing The Soul (1) Unlocking the Soul – Hearing the Soul’s Melody

Selections from Likutei Moharan (1:32) and Likutei Torah (Shelach). When the soul was attached to God, it heard a sweet and pure melody. As it descended into this world, the melody grew faint, until only a trace remained, etched into the soul. A person hears murmurs of the melody constantly, but is always reminded that the real thing is not this worldly. The true “I” of a Jew is pushed aside by the brazen body. The soul combats this with a brazen sigh and cry, testifying to the war being waged against the body. In the future, the recognition that the “I” of a Jew is really the “I” of God Himself, will be revealed to the entire world.

Constructing The Soul (2) Remembering The Taste Of The Tree

Selections from Shaar Yichud ViEmunah (Chapter 3) and Mussar HaKodesh (p. 140). Ideally, the term “ani” (“I”) is an expression of the “ayin ha’neelam” (“hidden nothingness”). When each Jew dies, the Angel of Death asks “who are you?” If we spend our lives searching for our essential self, then the answer will be clear. The essence of Teshuva is to first return to the self. If a person does not know himself, everything becomes confused. A truly intelligent person understands, what his eyes see is not the whole picture. There exists an entire world, unseen, only able to be perceived. The greatest tragedy is when a person loses sight of the inner “I” of himself and everything in creation.

Unlocking The Soul (3) Bringing The Puppet To Life

From Tzidkas HaTzaddik, Noam Elimelech, and Likutei Moharan. Just like a person needs to believe in God, one must believe in himself. God plays an active role in every person. This is not physical, but is rooted in God Himself. Each person has a unique light that defines his true essence. A person’s mission is to reveal this light and uncover the hidden “I” of himself. Ultimately this is rooted in the “I” above. Every action is then willed by the unknowable “I” of God. A person must be careful not to drive God out of his thoughts in favor of false gods. This will atrophy his ability to act. It ultimately leads him away from himself and his essence. A person must be guided by his soul, his essence, which is really a piece of God Himself.
