This is an important distinction to help us understand how we serve Hashem in every moment.
The actual actions that come out of our work do not require a person to remain in a truly abusive relationship – the work is to give us clarity as to where the emotional charges and blaming may be clouding or vision or giving us damaged judgment. Hopefully we are dealing with people who may be out of control but not truly abusive and by speaking to others from a place of truth in knowing that all there is in the world is the simple unity of Hashem, we hope that respect and appreciation will relieve their struggles and that Hashem helps them have an uplifting inspiring positive response.
If someone truly needs protection, run!!
The pasuk in Tehillim says Hashem redeems the souls of His
servants. This verse seemingly presents a
contradiction. Hashem seemingly has redeemed them, but they are still called servants. Doesn’t being redeemed mean that I ‘m no longer a servant?
The answer is obvious. Chazal say that he who
accepts upon himself the yolk of Torah and Avoda
becomes exempt from the yolk of the world’s way, exile and the
entrapping feelings of physicality. There is no escape.
The nature of human existence necessitates that there be the
acceptance of a yolk. Everyone will be a slave to something
However we have the choice to decide where our servitude will lay.
If we indenture ourselves to Hashem we are in turn freed from all other forms of servitude. This concept permeates repeatedly throughout Chazal.
Video Shiur: Power of imagination | Yetzer Hara
Rebbe Nachman changed the name of the Yetzer Hara to the “Koach Ha’Medameh”-“The power of imagination”. The Yetzer Hara can only get to you through your imaginations. He can not force a person to do anything, rather he brings the person to stress and to negative imaginations in attempt to bring him down.
We must clarify our stressful and negative emotions by talking about them with Hashem in the field in our Hitbodedut.
As true of any fear or negative emotion when a person brings them into the light to examine them closer and especially in front of the creator he begins to see the fallacy of those emotions and fears.
As we know the Darkness is only the Lack of light and as soon as some light shines forth, the darkness crumbles and ceases to exist.
